As the mom of two very active teenagers, I believe a healthy diet is primarily plant based, void of processed foods and rich in protein and nutrients- real foods that can fuel your young scholar athletes and more than please family and friends. One of my favorite choices is salmon. Packed with protein and rich in healthy fats, it's a nutritional powerhouse. Salmon can be cooked, cured and presented in so many different ways, it's easy to discover a few you not only love, but find easy to prepare. While wild salmon is always preferable, responsibly sourced will fulfill your needs.

This amazingly delicious Salmon Burger recipe adapted from @bartsfishtales is simple to prepare, cooks up quickly and is sure to please any appetite! For a crowd, turn these into two bite sliders! (would be great for New Year'). Use wild salmon when you are able and you may ask the fishmonger to remove the skin for you. Here, I chose a multigrain gluten free bun.
