- 1 pound dried pasta of choice, cooked according to the packaging instructions
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 1 (28 ounce) can Muir Glen Chunky Tomato Sauce
- Sugar, to taste
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil (optional), for topping
- Burrata (optional), for topping
- Pancetta (optional), for topping
Method
Step 1
Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.
Step 2
While pasta is cooking, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and sauté for one to two minutes. Pour in tomato sauce and add sugar, salt, and pepper, to taste. Stir and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 3
Remove from heat and stir in cream. Combine with pasta, adding in reserved pasta water a little bit at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
Step 4
Serve topped with fresh basil, burrata, and pancetta if desired.
