As a community of homecooks, we celebrate the act of bringing people together around the table. We share stories, we laugh together, and of course, we eat! - which is why we were excited to receive an invitation to visit Giovanni Rana Pastificio™ in Verona, Italy and spend 3 days learning about the culture, the history and the people behind the most famous refrigerated pasta brand in Italy.

To spend time with the Rana family is to spend time sharing in their company’s ethos: “Share What’s Inside” - and seeing first hand the passion that drives their business from the ground up.
The Rana family has revolutionized the refrigerated pasta category - focusing on top-quality ingredients and time honored traditions from the Italian kitchen. When working with a limited number of ingredients, it is critical that each of them is the best quality possible & the Ranas are obsessive about each of them. During our tour of the production facility, we saw, first hand how each ingredient is scrutinized before being deemed acceptable for production. It was amazing to learn that on average, the Ranas have worked with each of their suppliers no less than 25 years.

From Juliette’s balcony to the ancient wine cellar at Bottega Del Vino, Verona is a city that captivates and excites those who visit. Lost hours spent meandering the streets, taking in the sights, to late nights eating piping hot French Fries (post Opera, of course!) - this charming city is the perfect destination for travel enthusiasts and food lovers alike.

BASILICA di SAN ZENO MAGGIORE

This Church is a Verona landmark and boasts original Fresco paintings and other religious art work. Built in the Romanesque style, the building and courtyard are remarkably well preserved.

DINNER AT ANTICA BOTTEGA del VINO
Via Scudo di Francia, 3, 37121 Verona VR, Italy
Located in the heart of the Verona, this is a must visit restaurant - both food and wine (they have a lot of it with more than 18,000 bottles of wine in their ancient wine cellar) are top notch. Our dinner included copious amounts of Prosciutto di parma, Risotto with mint and peas & seared ahi tuna!

RAVIOLI MAKING

Antonella Rana, head of Marketing for Pastificio Rana knows a thing or two about the art of making homemade pasta. As with how Giovanni Rana makes their own pasta's, Antonella stressed that using the freshest ingredients possible is will help achieve the best results!

KING OF FOODS FESTIVALS
Joining our fellow travellers (all from the U.S) - we feasted on food from around the country during the King of Foods Festival. Organized by region, we tasted cuisine from the Northern, Southern and Central Regions of Italy. There was dancing, very good wine and a lot of merriment!

LAGO di GARDA
For our last day with the Rana family, we headed a bit north to Lago di Garda (Lake Garda), which is the largest lake in Italy, situated at the base of the Alps. The day began with a short tour of the town, followed by a boat ride to the lakeside home of GianLuca and Antonella, where we were treated to a picnic of epic proportions. From tortellini skewers to fried ravioli, the picnic was full of inventive and exciting ways to enjoy Giovanni Rana Refrigerated pasta. Following our time in the sun, we got to spend time styling our own food images pulling props from Antonella's private collection. The ingredients were bountiful and expertly sourced! We created a dish of Mozzarella Ravioli, crispy pancetta, caramelized figs, grilled radicchio, pesto and pistachios!

AIDA at ARENA di VERONA

The Arena di Verona is a Roman Amphitheater, located in the center of town. It was constructed in the first century and is still in use to this day. It has become world renowned for its elaborate staging of Operas during the summer months. We saw a performance of Aida by Guiseppe Verdi as a beautiful send off and conclusion to our trip!

Thank you to the entire Giovanni Rana family for welcoming us to Verona and "Sharing what is inside" with feedfeed!
