Hors d'oeuvres are the cocktails of food. They are the most fancy and social foods I know. They make great icebreakers with every set of guests. Entertaining with these small bites is one of the best ways for me to experiment with foods. They are easy to make. as a lot of them can be prepared ahead. What I love about them is their versatility. A simple patty can be dressed up and made sophisticated for an hors d'oeuvres party. Drawing inspiration from any food, even a simple patty, while making it bite-size is both fun and fancy. It's what makes working with hors d'oeuvres exciting.
