It goes without saying that my cooking routines have changed over the past two months. My typical frolicking through the grocery store almost daily turned into waking up at 6am to reserve a delivery slot for provisions. The occasional break with a night out at a restaurant disappeared, leaving me cooking dinner every day for my husband, sister, and brother-in-law. Life has changed, and don’t get me wrong, there have been many tears shed over all of this, but I still have been holding onto cooking as a form of much needed therapy to unplug and create something delicious. What better way to spend all this time at home than mastering some classic recipes you should have in your repertoire!
When I say classic, I don’t mean French, I don’t mean American, I mean tried and true recipes for global classics without a wild mashup or ingredient twist. If you’re looking to master sourdough at home. Let’s start with a perfect loaf before you tint it blue with butterfly pea flowers. If you’re looking to perfect your pie dough, let’s make a basic berry pie before you go for a pumpkin-meringue. These are all the comforting classic recipes to add to your to-do list! - Jake Cohen, Editorial Director
