How to Shuck Oysters

My Recipes
Mulled Wine
Baby it's cold outside! Which can only mean one thing: mulled wine.

Recipe:

Find yourself and inexpensive bottle of red wine and add:
2 tbsp of mulling spices,
1/4 cup of brandy
1/2 cup of honey
Zest of half a lemon and half an orange

Simmer all ingredients on low heat for 30 minutes and voila!

A perfect cozy beverage for these chilly winter nights (plus your home will smell amazing). This and two more of my favourite winter cocktail recipes featured in this month's Hidden Hills Magazine. Cheers!

2oz Rye
1oz Sweet Vermouth
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Stir ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist and a cherry (or if you're me, ALL OF THE CHERRIES). Happy Friday peeps!

RECIPE:

2oz Jameson Irish Whiskey
0.5 oz Sortilège Canadian Whiskey and Maple Syrup
2oz Cold Earl Grey Tea
0.5 oz lemon juice
0.25 oz simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura

Shake all ingredients over ice. Strain into a tall glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and lemon twist.

Cocktail Of The Day (because it's always cocktail hour somewhere in the works...even when it's 8:30am in my time zone). This week's COTD is The Americano- similar flavours of a Negroni but topped with soda water.

The Brandy Old Fashioned
RECIPE:

1 tsp 2:1 simple
2 dashes Angostura
1 orange wedge
1 maraschino cherry
2 oz brandy or cognac

Muddle first 4 ingredients in a chilled old fashioned glass. Add brandy and top with crushed ice. Recipe courtesy of @jeffmorgen.

Cocktail If The Day (because it's always cocktail hour somewhere in the world). In honour of Fat Tuesday, we're heading to New Orleans and hitting up the classics with A Sazerac.

2 oz rye
1/2 oz simple syrup
2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters
Absinthe rinse

Add an absinthe rinse to a chilled glass. Stir the rest of the ingredients over ice and strain into the aforementioned glass. Garnish with a lemon twist. Recipe taken from @imbibe.
