"These Banana Cream Puffs with Nutella® are an absolute treat for my family. After our last trip to Paris, I dreamed up this recipe. We love that they are simple enough to assemble, but look fancy enough to be served for a special occasion like a holiday party!"

Recipe Card

ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar, plus more for topping
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Nutella®
  • 2 medium bananas, sliced `

Method

  • Step 1

Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Step 2

On a cool, flat surface or pastry slab, lightly roll out the puff pastry with a rolling pin. Whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash, then brush it over the entire surface of the puff pastry.

  • Step 3

Slice the puff pastry into 12 even pieces and place them on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle the tops with sugar.

  • Step 4

Bake for about 13 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. Transfer the pan to a wire rack to allow them to cool.

  • Step 5

While the pastry is cooling, make the whipped cream. Combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl with a handheld mixer. Beat for about 3-4 minutes or until the cream forms stiff peaks. Transfer to a piping bag. Carefully use a bread knife to split each pastry into 2 layers.

  • Step 6

Spread a layer of Nutella® on the bottom half of each pastry. Top with banana slices. Pipe whipped cream over the bananas. Place the top half of the pastry on the whipped cream. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
