Double Chocolate Banana Bread

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons (plus two tablespoons) almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup brown rice flour
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda, plus 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder


  • Step 1

    Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a medium loaf pan with parchment paper.

  • Step 2

    In a big mixing bowl, mix the banana with the eggs until fluffy. Add coconut sugar, coconut oil, 2 tbsp almond milk and mix well.

  • Step 3

    Add the flours, baking powder and soda, salt and stir until all clumps have dissolved. Remove 1/3 of the batter and place it into another bowl. Add in this new bowl the cocoa powder and 2 tbsp almond milk and mix until combined.

  • Step 4

    Pour 2 tbsp of the classic banana bread batter in the middle of the bottom of the loaf pan. Add 2 tbsp of the chocolate batter in the middle of the classic batter. Repeat until you have used all the batter.

  • Step 5

    Bake in the bottom part of the oven for 55-60 minutes or until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean.

    Allow to cool completely before cutting into slices. Enjoy!
