Serves or Makes: 4


  • 3/ 4 cup cooked chickpeas
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/ 2 cup oats
  • 2 tablespoons flax seeds, mixed with 5 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/ 2 cup sesame seed
  • Oil, for cooking


  • Step 1

    Process all ingredients except sesame seeds and oil in a small mixer or food processor until a chunky dough forms. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

  • Step 2

    Form the dough into gold ball sized rounds then flatten into a patty. Roll each patty in sesame seeds. Heat oil over medium-heat in a pan, add the patties and cook until golden and crispy, about 3 minutes per side.
