3 Easy Ways to Reheat Pancakes

Quick & Easy Breakfast

Our favorite weekend tradition is slow mornings, making oat pancakes, tasting the sweetness of fresh berries, and catching up from all the activities during the weekdays. Often times, we make way too many pancakes, which is actually perfect because we freeze them for busy mornings the following week. But, how do you reheat them so that they remain scrumptious? Enjoy these 3 easy ways to reheat pancakes to reminisce on those good mornings.

First, let’s quickly go over the proper and best way to freeze your pancakes. I’ve got three suggestions to make it as painless as possible!

1. Use wax paper or parchment paper to separate each pancake from freezing together.

2. Store them in an air-tight container. This sounds cliché, but it is actually really important. I also suggest multiple layers of insulation. Double bag in resealable bags, or wrapping in aluminum foil then sealing in a food container. It will keep your pancakes from getting freezer burn.

3. Stack your pancakes. This is super simple, yet easy to forget. Stack your pancakes like you would if you were eating them. Ultimately, make sure they don’t bend, an important factor for reheating later on.

It’s always recommended to write the date that you made and/or froze the pancakes on the bag or container you store them in. For the best quality, try eating them within 1 month.

The Toaster

Unless you have some ultra fluffy pancakes on your hands, the toaster oven is the #1 choice. Or at least that’s my personal preference. If your pancakes are thin, you do not need to defrost them. If you’re in doubt, think thinner than a slice of bread.

How to: Simply transfer them from freezer bag to toaster, then warm up for 1-2 minutes. Periodically check on them, depending on the heat setting for your toaster.

The edges will become slightly crispy, but the inside will remain light and fluffy – delish!

The Microwave

This is another great option to keep the moisture in your pancakes. Another option where you do not need to defrost your pancakes.

How to: Simply place 1-5 frozen pancakes on a microwave-safe plate, then microwave for 20 – 60 seconds (time will vary depending on the wattage).

Voilà! You have magically recreated soft, fluffy pancakes!

The Oven

This option is great when trying to reheat a large amount of pancakes.

How to: Simple preheat the oven 350°F. On a parchment lined sheet tray, evenly line up your pancakes, making sure there is no overlap. Then, tightly wrap the pan in aluminum foil. This step is imperative, because it keeps them from drying out. Bake for 10 minutes, or until they are warm throughout.

This method takes a little longer, but leaves you with an abundance of soft pancakes to devour!

Enjoy those mornings with your family and friends, then carry the memories into the following mornings by reheating those scrumptious pancakes with these few tips!
