ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked bacon
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Thyme
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Olive oil
  • 3 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups chopped kale
  • 3 hamburger buns or gluten free buns

Method

  • Step 1

In a medium pan, cook your bacon for 3-4 minutes or until it starts to brown. Remove and place onto a paper towel to drain.

  • Step 2

Using a little of the bacon grease, add shallot, garlic, and thyme to pan and sautรฉ for 2 minutes. Remove from pan (save a 1/3 for the kale mix) and add to a large mixing bowl with the beef, Worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.

  • Step 3

Begin to form your patties and set to the side. Heat a pan on medium heat and add a little olive oil. Add your patties and cook for 3 minutes, flip and cook for another 2 minutes before adding cheese. Once cheese is melted, remove patties from pan and allow to rest.

  • Step 4

In the same pan, add your cooked bacon, sautรฉed shallots/garlic, and kale. Cook for 2 minutes until the kale has wilted. Add to your burger along with the buns.
