I spent a few peaceful minutes this morning reading @valentinahortus' blog and getting transported to the Italian region of Veneto. Along the way she describes traditional ways of making Polenta as well as this particular "Polenta Bruschetta Topped With Sweet And Sour Onions", which are cooked in sugar and vinegar. 'In Saor' is a way of cooking that comes from Venice, my hometown. It's a light sauce of pickled onion, raisins, pine nuts, bay leaves and olive oil that you often serve with pan fried fish or seafood.
