French Hot Chocolate

(7)
"It’s National Hot Chocolate Day!! 🍫 I gotta say, despite the fact that I haven’t seen snow in years (😳), and hot chocolate is usually my snow day ritual, I’ve been on a great big hot cocoa kick lately. Might have something to do with the recipe, which is just as easy to make as instant but is soooooo thick and flavorful. Posting it below so you can be warm and cozy too!!!"

ingredients

  • 7 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Method

  • Step 1

In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat about 1 cup of water and place a heat-proof bowl snugly overtop of the saucepan (you can also use a double boiler if you have one). Add your chopped chocolate and 1 cup of whipping cream.

  • Step 2

Stir the chocolate and cream as the steam from the water gently melts the chocolate and warms the cream. Be sure not to allow the cream and chocolate mixture to boil. Add the honey, then stir to combine.

  • Step 3

Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat and pour into heat-proof mugs.

  • Step 4

Finish with your desired toppings: whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate shavings, caramel drizzle — or the works!
