"These are Ghughra or Fried Sweet Hand Pies if you may call it. It’s a dish mom would make every single year for Diwali, I continued the tradition once I came here, because I have fond memories of helping her in the kitchen making these beauties!! ☺️ It is basically a simple all purpose flour dough bound with ghee and water, filled with a cooked mixture of semolina, coconut, almonds, pistachios, cashews, nutmeg, cardamom, ghee, saffron, sugar, heavy cream. Then it is pleated just like a dumpling, and deep fried! Oh Yea! 😆 They are really delicious, and not hard to make!
