Good morning! ? I hope your week is going well. On my side I am very busy between work and exams, but enjoying every bit of it ? Today is one of those days with very limited time to cook and a quick and nutritious pasta dish like my "Spaghetti aglio olio with zucchini" will solve my lunch ? Carbohydrates (carbs), proteins and fats are the three macronutrients that together constitute 95% or more by weight of the human diet (apart from water). Carbs are found almost exclusively in plant foods and are of three main types: sugars, starches and fibres. The body uses carbs as its main fuel source. They are vital to our health as they provide us with energy. Very often carbs get a bad reputation when it comes to weight gain. This is why it is very important to choose good natural carbs that are full of fibre such as: beans and legumes, fruits, vegetables and whole grains that provide us with many important nutrients that are essential for a healthy and balanced diet. And it is important to avoid refined and processed carbs and added sugars, since they do not add any of the necessary fibre or the nutrients to our diet, only the calories! I love wholemeal pasta! Hi there! ? As you know, research findings show evidence that increasing fruit and vegetable consumption as part of a healthful diet may improve psychological well-being and help reduce the risk of obesity, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and even some type of cancers. The current nutrition guidelines recommend eating around 5 portions of fruits and vegetables a day for good health, but according to recent studies it is clear that a higher intake of fruits and vegetables (at least 10 a day) has tremendous health benefits and people should try to increase their intake in their diet. Personally I like to have fruits as part of my breakfast since it helps to restore the blood glucose levels to normal after the overnight fast.
