FAQs
Can I use milk or dark chocolate instead of semisweet chocolate chips?
Yes! If you prefer a sweeter taste, milk chocolate is a great option. For a richer, more intense flavor, dark chocolate works well too.
What can I use instead of chow mein noodles?
If you don’t have chow mein noodles, you can substitute pretzel sticks or crushed shredded wheat cereal for a similar nest-like appearance and crunch.
Can I make these ahead of time?
Absolutely! These nests can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, making them a great make-ahead treat.
Can I use a different nut butter?
Yes, almond butter, cashew butter, or even sunflower seed butter can be used as a substitute for peanut butter.
Ingredient Notes
Semisweet Chocolate Chips (140g / 1 cup): Provides the perfect balance of sweetness and depth to complement the peanut butter.
Creamy Peanut Butter (85g / 1/4 cup): Adds a smooth, nutty flavor and helps bind the ingredients together.
Chow Mein Noodles (5 ounces / 2 & 1/2 cups): These crispy noodles create the perfect “nest” texture, adding a satisfying crunch.
Mini Chocolate Eggs (27 total): The final decorative touch that makes these nests look like real bird nests—ideal for Easter or springtime treats!
