Baked Oatmeal With Apples And Maple Syrup

1 apple, peeled, cored and diced

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1 1/2 cups rolled oats

1 cup water

pinch of salt

1/4 cup coconut sugar

1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts

Apple slices to garnish

Maple syrup 


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a 9-inch oven proof skillet, melt the butter. Add the diced apple and spices and saute until beginning to soften, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat. In a bowl, add the oats, water, salt and coconut sugar and stir to combine. Pour the oat mixture into the pan with the apples. Top with sliced apples and the chopped hazelnuts. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until set and golden. 

Serve with maple syrup.
