"This caramel sauce is easy to make and super delicious! Pour it over ice cream, use it as a dip for sliced apples, or just eat it with a spoon. :)"

ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 tabelspoons salted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Method

  • Step 1

Heat sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. It will begin to clump up before turning into an amber colored liquid.

  • Step 2

Once the sugar has completely liquidized, quickly stir in the butter until it’s melted and combined. The mixture will start to bubble, but keep mixing.

  • Step 3

Then, slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring. The mixture will start to bubble again, and allow it to boil like this for one minute. Then, remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.

  • Step 4

Store in a heat proof container. This will keep in the fridge for about one month. The mixture will become thicker when cold, so reheat it in the microwave or on the stove-top when you want to use it. Enjoy!
