Recipe Intro From lisathompson
Every summer when I was a kid, I watched my dad make a batch of this Italian peaches and wine that stays chilled in the fridge for a few days. This drink is the embodiment of summer!
Recipe Description
The best way to enjoy this summery sipper is to treat it like a dessert- some boozy wine-soaked peaches to eat and refreshing chilled wine to savor. My dad always used an inexpensive chianti, but rosé is also an incredible option to play up the peach notes in the wine. Crisp, tart white wine would also work well.

Peaches and Wine Ingredients
Ingredient Notes
Wine
Choose a wine that you would normally drink for this recipe. The peaches flavor the wine and the wine flavors the peaches, so it's important to go with something you like.
Peaches
You can use any variety of peach in this recipe, or go with a combination! I love using white peaches in the rosé variation because it plays up the peachy flavor notes already present in the wine. Clingstone peaches are harder to segment and free-stone peaches are easier. Ask the vendor at your local farmer's market to help you identify which kind they are selling.
Pro Tips
Ripening Peaches
If your peaches are underripe, store them in a paper bag for a few day to speed up the process a bit.
FAQs
What red wine goes with peaches?
Chianti or pinot noir, rosé, and crisp white wines go well with fresh peaches.
How long do you soak peaches in alcohol?
For this recipe, let the peaches soak in the wine for at least 8 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
Should I peel peaches for wine?
I do not peel peaches before soaking in the wine. In fact, when making this recipe with rosé, the skins add a beautiful deep pink hue to the wine.
