ingredients

  • 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grand marnier
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup dutch cocoa powder

Method

  • Step 1

    In a double boiler, melt chocolate and butter over low heat until butter has just melted and mixed. Remove form the heat and let sit.

  • Step 2

    In a medium bowl, combine eggs and sugars with a hand mixer until batter is thick and creamy.

  • Step 3

    Add Grand Marnier, baking powder orange zest and butter and chocolate mixture and combine with a spatula.

  • Step 4

    Add sifted flour and cocoa powder and combine.

  • Step 5

    Let dough rest for 30 minutes. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  • Step 6

    Scoop the dough into even one inch balls and place on a lined baking tray. If the dough is still sticky, place in the fridge for 15-30 minutes.

  • Step 7

    Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes.

  • Step 8

    Let the cookies cool for 2-3 minutes before moving to a cooling rack.

  • Step 9

    Eat once cool.
