For the syrup

- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup sugar
For the Base
ingredients
- 15 ladyfingers biscuits
- 1 1/2 cups prepared dulce de leche
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 4 egg yolks (reserve the whites separately for the meringue)
For the Meringue

- 4 egg whites
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- Pinch of salt
Make the Syrup
Method
Step 1
In a small saucepan, combine the water and sugar over medium heat. Stir and let it boil for 5 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. Allow it to cool.
Assemble the Dish
Step 1
Arrange the ladyfingers in an 8×8-inch baking dish. Lightly drizzle the ladyfingers with the syrup.
Step 2
Soften the dulce de leche by heating it for a few seconds or by mixing it with 1 tablespoon of milk. Spread it over the ladyfingers.
Step 3
In a small saucepan, mix the condensed milk with the egg yolks and milk until well combined. Heat over low heat and stir until it starts to boil. Remove from heat and immediately pour it over the layer of dulce de leche, covering the entire dish. Allow it to cool.
Step 4
Make the meringue by beating the egg whites with the sugar and a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form. Spread it over the dessert and optionally, brown it in the oven or using a torch. Enjoy!
