ingredients

  • 1 pound thinly sliced red radishes
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dried bay leaf
  • 3 allspice berries
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar

Method

  • Step 1

    Fill jar (or jars) with sliced radishes.

  • Step 2

    In a small saucepan over high heat, combine water, sugar, salt, bay leaf, and allspice.

  • Step 3

    Bring to a boil, then immediately remove from heat.

  • Step 4

    When the liquid has fully cooled, add the vinegar, then pour over the radishes.

  • Step 5

    Let the jars stand at room temperature for one hour, then place in the refrigerator. Chill for at least three hours, or overnight, before serving.
