If you’re jonesing for some lasagna but don’t feel like whipping up an entire batch, this simple and quicker version comes together in a mug!

Save even more time (without skimping on flavor) by using Tuttorosso Crushed Tomatoes to layer your mug lasagna. Make as many or as few servings as you’d like, and let the microwave work it’s magic to melt the cheese and allow the flavors to combine.

ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 white onion, diced
  • 1/4 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more as needed
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, plus more as needed
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, plus more as needed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can Tuttorosso Crushed Tomatoes
  • 3 lasagna noodles, cooked
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil, finely chopped, for garnish (optional)

Method

  • Step 1

    Heat oil in a large sauce pan over medium-high heat.

  • Step 2

    Add in diced onion and sauté, stirring frequently, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add in ground beef and cook until just slightly pink, about 7 minutes. Add in minced garlic, plus salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, and cook for about 1 minute.

  • Step 3

    Add in the crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer, allowing flavors to combine for 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat.

  • Step 4

    Rip the cooked lasagna sheets into smaller pieces, and spray 2 large mugs with cooking spray.

  • Step 5

    Into the mugs, layer cooked lasagna sheets, plus the saucy meat mixture, plus shredded mozzarella cheese.

  • Step 6

    Microwave for 1 minute, until the cheese is melty and gooey. Garnish with fresh basil & enjoy!
