ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- Fresh strawberries, sliced
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated (or powdered sugar)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar and granulated sugar (optional), for topping
- Egg wash (or milk), for brushing the edges
Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Step 3
Cut the puff pastry sheet into 9 rectangles.
Step 4
Perforate another rectangle in the center of each pastry rectangle to create a border for the filling.
Step 5
Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry rectangle, then top with fresh strawberry slices.
Step 6
Brush the edges of the pastries with egg wash or milk.
Step 7
Sprinkle granulated sugar on top for added sweetness, if desired.
Step 8
Bake for 13-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Step 9
Dust the top with powdered sugar before serving
