Broccoli Rabe and Sausage Skillet Bake

ingredients
- 1 large bunch broccoli rabe, roughly chopped
- 4 pre-cooked chicken or pork sausages, sliced into pieces
- 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, smashed
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- Hot pepper flakes, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Method
Step 1
Preheat a large, oven-safe skillet (with a lid) over medium heat until hot. Add olive oil, garlic, onion, salt and hot pepper flakes to taste.
Step 2
Sauté onions and garlic in the preheated skillet for 3-4 minutes until wilted. Add cooked, sliced sausage and toss.
Step 3
Add chopped broccoli rabe to the skillet. Do not toss! Put the lid on and let steam for 5-6 minutes until broccoli rabe starts to wilt and turn bright green. Don’t toss or remove the lid for the full 5 minutes so the steam isn’t released!
Step 4
Toss to combine, and spread out your ingredients in an even layer.
Step 5
Place skillet in a 400-degree oven, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes until sausage and broccoli rabe start to brown and crisp up.
Step 6
Serve as-is, or with one of the delicious ideas from the post above!
