French Toast with Strawberries and Chocolate

Recipe Card


  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 loaf Udi’s 7-Seeds Sandwich Bread
  • 1 cup chopped strawberries
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
  • 1 tablespoon butter, plus more if needed


  • Step 1

    In a medium bowl, whisk milk, cream, eggs, yolk, ¼ cup sugar, vanilla, and nutmeg.

  • Step 2

    In a shallow bowl, mix remaining ¼ cup sugar and cinnamon.

  • Step 3

    In a medium skillet over medium high heat, melt butter. Dip a slice of bread in custard mixture and transfer to hot pan. Cook until golden brown on each side, about 3 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining slices. Transfer to a baking rack set over a baking sheet and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

    Serve immediately with strawberries and melted chocolate chips.
