The most simple, easy and healthy bread of the world made of whole wheat flour, water a little oil and salt! “Chapati/ Roti/Phulka” is an unleavened Indian flatbread freshly prepared on a daily basis in every Indian home and practically eaten with everything right from breakfast to dinner. Serve hot/ warm/ cold with your favourite lentils, vegetables, curries, fish, meat, dips, chutneys, omelette, tea- just anything.

Also, If your wondering what is the difference between Chapati/ Roti/ Phulka. Well they basically made with the same ingredients-the difference lies only in the mode of cooking and sometimes the size or thickness. Chapati/Roti’s are rolled slightly bigger and thicker cooked both sides on Tawa and pressed down with a kitchen cloth to puff up. Phulka’s are rolled smaller in size cooked slightly on Tawa and then on direct fire (gas/coal) to puff up like a balloon.

Thanks to #oldfriends @chef_prassou in 🇫🇷 who asked me for an easy Indian bread recipe the other day which made me realise a lot of people (non 🇮🇳) during the #lockdown or #stayhome period could make this easily too with just 2 ingredients -Water & Flour! .
