"Sharing hearty dish from India, which is not very famous but widely cooked in many homes in India. Mince Meat & Lentil Rice (Masoor Pulao), ultimate comfort food ❤️. Ingredients :
Basmati Rice : 250g
Mince meat : 300g
Brown lentil whole : 100g
Onion large, sliced : 1
Yougurt : 1/4 cup
Tomatoes medium, chopped : 2
Ginger & garlic paste : 1tbsp
Oil : 4tbsp
Cinnamon stick : 1/2 small
Cardamom whole : 3-4
Bay leaf : 2
Blackpepper whole : 3-5
Clove : 4
Turmeric powder : 1tsp
Red Chilli powder : 1tsp
Corriander powder : 2tsp
Fresh coriander & mint : 2tsp each
Salt to taste.
Method :
Soak lentil for 1 hour before cooking, wash it and boil in water with little salt and keep it aside.
Soak rice 20-25 min before cooking, wash it 3-4 time nicely before cooking. In a meanwhile in a heavy bottom pan, Add onion lightly brown them and keep them aside.
In a same pan add all the whole spices, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, black pepper & bay leaves saute them for few seconds add mince meat cook it on medium flame for 3-4 minutes, Add ginger & garlic paste and all the powder spices red chilli, turmeric and corriander powder, mix it well and add 1/2 cup water cook on low flame for 20-25 min.
Meanwhile add brown onion & yougurt to a mixer and make a fine fine paste.
Add the yougurt and onion paste to a mince mixture, mix it well for 2-3 minutes then add coriander, mint & lentils do not over mix add this stage. Turn off the heat.
Meanwhile, bring a large pan of water to the boil and add the rice. Add three teaspoons of salt and a drizzle of oil to prevent the rice from sticking. Cook until the rice becomes tender but not completely cooked through - about three minutes. Drain well and leave to stand.
Next add half rice to large pot then add all the lentil & mince mixture, then add remaining rice, cover it & cook it for 10-12 min on a very low flame.
Serve with hot with raita."
