Stromboli
"If you’re looking for a fun baking project, then try this delicious stromboli. If you haven’t had it before, it’s basically just pizza dough that has been rolled up with cheese and toppings before baking. Slice it up and enjoy with your favorite pizza sauce."

ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 package) instant yeast
  • 1 cup 120 Degree water
  • 2 tablepoons olive oil
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • pizza sauce, for dipping

Method

  • Step 1

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast. Add in the 120 degree water and olive oil - stir to combine.

  • Step 2

Knead for 5 minutes and place in a large greased bowl, covered with plastic wrap. Place in a warm spot to rise for 1 hour.

  • Step 3

Once the dough is ready, preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Flour a large sheet pan, and roll the dough out to about an 11x16 in rectangle. Evenly sprinkle on the cheese and then layer on the ham and pepperoni.

  • Step 4

Roll up the dough (horizontally), placing the end/crease side on the bottom of the pan. Fold under the two ends of the roll and cut a few holes on top to vent.

  • Step 5

Brush the melted butter on top and then sprinkle on the oregano and Parmesan cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

  • Step 6

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before using a serrated knife to slice it into 1 inch pieces. Serve with pizza sauce for dipping and enjoy!
