Crust Ingredients:

ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 12 tabelspoons cold and cut into cubes Butter
  • 11 tabelspoons ice cold Water

Filling Ingredients:

ingredients

  • 4 cups peeled and thinly sliced Apples
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 2 tabelspoons All-Purpose Flour

Caramel Sauce Ingredients:

ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 3 tabelspoons room temperature Butter
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream

Method

  • Step 1

To make the dough, add the flour to a large bowl. Add the cold and thinly sliced butter and use a fork to combine it until crumbs form. Next, add 11 tbsp of ice cold water and stir to combine into a ball of dough.

  • Step 2

Slightly flatten your dough ball into a disc and cover it in plastic wrap. Place it in the fridge to chill for 1 hour.

  • Step 3

Meanwhile, prepare your filling. In a large sauce pan, combine the sliced + peeled apples, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Cook on high heat for 5 minutes, stirring consistently. Pour your filling into a bowl and allow it to cool.

  • Step 4

Once your dough is chilled, roll it out on a floured surface. You want a 1/4 in thick circle. Once this is done, transfer your dough to a lightly floured pizza pan.

  • Step 5

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

  • Step 6

Spread your cooled filling onto the dough, leaving about 2-3 inches of empty space around the diameter. Fold this extra dough over the filling, and place your galette into the oven to bake for 30 minutes.

  • Step 7

While that is baking make the caramel sauce. Place the sugar in a small saucepan and cook on medium heat. Stir constantly. The sugar will form crumbs, and then turn into a smooth amber colored liquid. Next, stir in the butter until combined. Then, slowly pour in the heavy cream and stir again. Allow the mixture to boil for 1 min. Turn off the heat and pour the sauce into a bowl to cool.

  • Step 8

Remove your galette from the oven and allow it to cool before drizzling the caramel sauce on top. Enjoy!
