ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon corn starch
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method

  • Step 1

To make the brown butter, melt the butter in a sauce pan at medium heat. Once it’s all melted, continue to cook it while whisking constantly. The butter will begin to foam. Once the liquid underneath the foam is a dark caramel color, it is done. Pour the brown butter (including any grainy solids on the bottom of the pan) into a bowl and set it on the counter to cool down a bit before placing it in the refrigerator to re-solidify. Then, remove it from the fridge and allow it to come back to room temperature.

  • Step 2

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease an 11 in X 7 in baking pan.

  • Step 3

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars. Stir in the eggs and vanilla extract.

  • Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and corn starch. Gradually stir this dry mixture into the wet mixture. Add the chocolate chips and stir to combine.

  • Step 5

Spread the dough in an even layer in your prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes. Once baked, remove from your oven and set on a wire rack to cool a bit before slicing. Enjoy!
