Honey BBQ Tofu

ingredients

  • 1 block (450 grams) firm tofu, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • 1/2 cup any bbq sauce
  • 2 tablespoons agave syrup or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons any neutral oil (plus more for cooking)

Mango Dressing

ingredients

  • 1 ripe mango, diced in cubes
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tablepoons sesame oil
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • salt, to taste

Honey BBQ Tofu

Method

  • Step 1

    In a shallow pan, heat oil and fry tofu until golden brown and crisp on all sides. Transfer tofu to a lined plate and set aside.

  • Step 2

    In a saucepan, heat the 2 tablespoons oil and add the agave syrup and bbq sauce. Stir until sauce is reduced to a sticky consistency (you should see bubbles all throughout your sauce).

  • Step 3

    Add the crispy tofu back in and stir to coat. Increase heat to high and let tofu caramelize slightly, being careful not to burn the tofu.

Mango Dressing

  • Step 1

    Into a blender, add all of the dressing ingredients and blend until smooth. Season to taste.
