Honey BBQ Tofu
ingredients
- 1 block (450 grams) firm tofu, cut into bite size pieces
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 1/2 cup any bbq sauce
- 2 tablespoons agave syrup or maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons any neutral oil (plus more for cooking)
Mango Dressing
ingredients
- 1 ripe mango, diced in cubes
- 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 1/2 tablepoons sesame oil
- 1 small garlic clove
- salt, to taste
Honey BBQ Tofu
Method
Step 1
In a shallow pan, heat oil and fry tofu until golden brown and crisp on all sides. Transfer tofu to a lined plate and set aside.
Step 2
In a saucepan, heat the 2 tablespoons oil and add the agave syrup and bbq sauce. Stir until sauce is reduced to a sticky consistency (you should see bubbles all throughout your sauce).
Step 3
Add the crispy tofu back in and stir to coat. Increase heat to high and let tofu caramelize slightly, being careful not to burn the tofu.
Mango Dressing
Step 1
Into a blender, add all of the dressing ingredients and blend until smooth. Season to taste.
