Za'atar Avocado and Egg Sourdough Toast

"Friends, I have some news to share with you. A lot of times the sourdough that you get at the regular grocery store is not really sourdough. One of the ways to tell is to check the ingredients. If the ingredients contain yeast then it’s not really sourdough because sourdough is naturally leavened meaning it doesn’t need yeast to rise."

  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • Ghee
  • 1 avocado, mashed
  • 2 eggs
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Cilantro
  • Za'atar


  • Step 1

    Spread ghee onto bread slices. Toast until crispy.

  • Step 2

    Bring a medium saucepan of water to a rolling boil. Gently lower in eggs and cook for 12-15 minutes. Transfer immediately to an ice bath. Once cool to handle, peel back shells.

  • Step 3

    Spread mashed avocado over the toasted bread. Top with hard boiled egg chunks along with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, cilantro, and za'atar.
