Recipe Intro From lisathompson

These Ranch Steak Sliders with Mushrooms and Swiss cheese are a delicious way to serve a crowd with big flavors on a budget. Featuring homemade ranch seasoning and creamy ranch sauce, this recipe brings bold, comforting flavors perfect for holiday gatherings or any get-together. Using top sirloin steak ensures a tender, flavorful bite without breaking the bank.

Pro tip: cook steaks in a high-sided pan to reduce splatter and achieve optimal doneness. While we aim for an initial temperature of 110°F before resting to 122°F, the steak will continue cooking in the oven to a perfect 145°F for medium rare. Identifying the grain of the sirloin while raw can make slicing easier after cooking for maximum tenderness.

To Assemble:

ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon homemade ranch seasoning
  • 1 sheet of 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese

Make the Ranch Seasoning:

Method

  • Step 1

In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, dried dill, parsley, chives, and kosher salt. Mix well. Store any leftover seasoning in an airtight container for future use; it’s perfect for popcorn or roasted chicken.

Cook the Steak and Mushrooms:

  • Step 1

Preheat a medium pan with high sides over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes.

  • Step 2

Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season all sides with salt and black pepper. Add 1 teaspoon of neutral oil to the hot pan and sear the steak until it reaches an internal temperature of 110°F, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the pan, tent with foil, and rest until it reaches 122°F.

  • Step 3

In the same pan, add 1 tablespoon of oil and sauté the sliced mushrooms. Season with kosher salt and black pepper, and cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes. Remove from the heat.

Make the Creamy Ranch:

  • Step 1

Combine the sour cream, mayo, and 2 tablespoons of the homemade ranch seasoning in a bowl. Mix until smooth.

Assemble the Sliders:

  • Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  • Step 2

Melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter and mix in 1 teaspoon of ranch seasoning.Slice the sheet of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls intact. Place the bottom half on a baking sheet. Layer with Swiss cheese, slices of steak, and sautéed mushrooms. Spread the creamy ranch evenly over the top. Place the top half of the rolls over the filling and brush with melted butter.

  • Step 3

Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese melts, the tops are golden, and the steak reaches an internal temperature of 145°F as measured by a meat thermometer. Serve warm and enjoy!
