Focaccia Garden

(10)
"I decided to make my own flowery focaccia art after having admired so many others on Instagram. I normally don’t post photos of raw ingredients or uncooked dishes, but I thought it was worth sharing this unbaked version while the flowers and leaves look fresh and vibrant. After being baked, it becomes a very different, faded beauty that I’ll share later this week.⁣ ⁣ I made this focaccia a couple of weeks ago while I was experiencing a pretty bad eczema flare up. (I have had eczema for most of my life, and my biggest triggers seem to be weather/temperature and stress.) Having something to focus on—like slowly gathering clippings of herbs and flowers from my garden and then carefully arranging them on top of the dough—proved to be calming and helped take my mind off my itchy skin for a while.⁣ ⁣ So, this is a friendly reminder that it is okay for you, too, to take a moment for yourself. I hope this photo brings some beauty to your day.⁣"
