A Note from Feedfeed

Sauteed beef, onions, and spices are layered on sweet rolls, topped with garlic tahini, and crispy french fries and cheese! Bake these rolls for a couple of minutes just until the cheese is melted, and enjoy. Warning: these rolls come with a major cheese pull! For the Shawarma Meat

ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, cut into thin strips
  • 1 large yellow onion, cut into half moon slices
  • 1 tablespoon Shawarma Spices, recipe below
  • 1 teaspoon Aleppo pepper, optional
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • crispy french fries
  • 8 slices cheddar & provolone

For the Garlic Tahini sauce

ingredients

  • 1 cup greek yogurt
  • 3 roasted garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon tahini

Shawarma Spice Blend

ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sumac
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

For the Shawarma Meat

Method

  • Step 1

    Heat a deep pan with olive oil, add meat and cook for 2 min, add sliced onions & cook for a 5-6 min on medium heat, add spices and let cook for an additional 2 min (you can always marinate the beef slices with the spices in advance before cooking).

  • Step 2

    Heat oven to 370° F. Prepare the buns by placing them in an oven sheet with parchment, cut horizontally & remove the top part.

  • Step 3

    Add your beef, top it off with the sauce, french fries and cheese, return the top half of the buns, press gently (cover with aluminum foil if you want your buns to remain soft and not crispy) bake for 5-7 min. Take out and serve!
