Recipe Intro From katie.melodie
This apple butter is the perfect homemade gift this holiday season and it comes together in a pinch! Choose from your favorite variety of apples and stew them low and slow to get perfectly caramelized, translucent gems. Then blend and reduce into a perfectly sweet, tart spread, perfect for toasts or biscuits or even jam cookies. This apple butter is extra apple-y because of a secret ingredient - Runamok Apple Cider Syrup! It's a reduced apple cider syrup, providing intense and delightful apple flavor with every bite, and you can get this ingredient right here in the Feedfeed shop!

ingredients
- 6 pounds mixed apples, such as honeycrisp, Macintosh, or Snapdragon
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 bottle Runamok Apple Cider Syrup
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract or vanilla paste
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water, plus more as needed
Method
Step 1
Peel, core, and chop apples. Add them to your pot (or slow cooker!) along with the brown sugar, apple cider syrup, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, and water. Cover and over medium low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the apples are completely soft.
Step 2
Remove the cinnamon sticks and then transfer all contents of the pot to a blender and blend on high speed until very smooth. Pour the mixture back into the pot and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes or until the excess liquid is reduced. The texture should be like softened butter or jam.
Step 3
Allow the apple butter to cool completely and transfer to jars or serve immediately!
