Crumble Topping:
- 1 tablespoon chai spice
- 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup all purpose flour
ingredients
Apple Chai Glaze:
- 2 teaspoons macerated apple juice
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease and line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper.
Step 2
Brown the butter over medium-low heat in a small pan. Stir constantly until the butter turns an amber brown color. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine sliced apples, chai spices, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Allow it to macerate while preparing the cake batter.
Step 4
In a large bowl, whisk together the cooled browned butter, oat milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and brown sugar for the cake batter. Whisk for 2-3 minutes until well combined.
Step 5
Add the flour, salt, and baking soda to the wet ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth.
Step 6
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. Drain the juices from the marinated apples and set aside. Arrange the sliced apples on top of the cake batter.
Step 7
In a separate bowl, combine chai spices, melted butter, brown sugar, and flour for the crumble topping. Sprinkle the crumble over the apple slices.
Step 8
Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 9
Allow the cake to cool for 20-30 minutes.
Step 10
Prepare the glaze by combining macerated apple juice and powdered sugar. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
