Dark & Stormy With A Twist
"Recipe:

2 ounces Dark rum
2 ounces ginger juice (see note below)
1 ounce 5 spice simple syrup (see note below)
Juice of one lime
Club soda, enough to top off glass

basil,honey, candied ginger, to garnish

Combine all ingredients except club soda and garnishes in a tall glass. Mix well and add ice. Top off with club soda and garnishes of choice and serve.

To make ginger juice:

Grate whole ginger on a microplane and squeeze the juice out, a handheld citrus press works well, or a garlic press.

To make Five Spice simple syrup:

Toast 1 teaspoon five spice powder in a dry skillet until fragrant. Remove from heat. In a small sauce pan, combine 1 cup sugar with toasted five spice and mix well to combine. Add 1 cup water and bring to a boil. Cook until sugar has dissolved and it has a syrupy consistency. Remove from heat and cool before using
