Short Rib Cheeseburger

ingredients

  • 1 pound ground short rib meat, or substitute ground beef
  • 4 brioche hamburger buns, toasted
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1 tomato, sliced `
  • 1 red onion, sliced `
  • Red Gold Ketchup, for serving
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Method

  • Step 1

    Loosely form the ground beef into 4 equal sized patties

  • Step 2

    Generously season both sides of the patties with salt and pepper.

  • Step 3

    Place the patties directly on the grill grates of a grill preheated to medium-high heat, around 400°F.

  • Step 4

    Let the burgers cook for 6 minutes and then flip and cook for another 6 minutes. If you like your burgers with more pink in the middle, cook them for 4-5 minutes on each side.

  • Step 5

    When there is 2 minutes left, add a slice of American cheese on top of each patty.

  • Step 6

    While the burgers are finishing up, start stacking the additional ingredients. Start with the bottom bun, followed by the ketchup, lettuce, red onion, and tomato. Add the hot burger and then the top half of the bun.
