ingredients
For the Crust
- Nonstick Spray
- 1 (16 ounce package) Cascadian Farm Organic Hash Browns, thawed
- 2 tablespoons Butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper, grounded
Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly spray a 9-inch pie pan with nonstick spray.
Step 2
If needed, squeeze any excess water out of the thawed hash browns. Pat dry with paper towel. In a large bowl, combine hash browns, butter, salt and pepper. Firmly press the hash brown mixture into the bottom and sides of the pie pan. Make sure it’s firmly and tightly packed, with no holes to avoid leakage.
Step 3
Pre-bake the crust for 18-20 minutes or until slightly golden brown (edges will look more golden brown and crispier than the rest of the crust). Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Using a spoon, press down the hash brown crust to make it even more compact. Decrease the oven temperature to 350 degrees F.
ingredients
For the Filling
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
- 1 medium Yellow Onion, thinly sliced
- 6 large Eggs
- 3/4 cup Heavy Cream
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon grounded Black Pepper
- 6 slices Bacon, cooked and diced
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
For the filling
Step 1
While the crust is pre-baking, make the filling. Mel butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook for about 15-20 minutes until caramelized. Set aside.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with the heavy cream, salt and black pepper. Set aside.
Building the Quiche
Step 1
Add the caramelized onions, cooked diced bacon, and shredded gruyere cheese on the pre-baked crust. Pour the egg mixture filling into the crust.
Step 2
Bake for 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees F, or until set in the center and golden brown on top. The hash brown edges will continue to develop a richer golden brown color and crisp up. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
