"Holidays during quarantine remind us of just how different things are now. Traditionally my mom and sister's and I go out to brunch for Mother's Day. I'd don a pretty dress and we'd laugh over fruity cocktails. This year my husband has decided to treat me to a crab feast at home. I'm actually excited. All we need now is a Mother's Day cocktail to add to the celebration. ⠀"

For the cocktail

ingredients

  • 2 ounces strawberry purée
  • 2 ounces gin
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 3/4 ounce lemon juice
  • Club soda, to top

For the cocktail

Method

  • Step 1

    In a shaker, muddle mint with simple syrup and lemon. Add strawberry purée, gin, syrup, and lemon juice and shake with ice.

  • Step 2

    Pour contents into a rocks or collins glass, add more ice and top with club soda. Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint, lemon or lime wedge or strawberry.

  • 1 pound strawberries

  • Step 1

    Remove the tops of 1 pound of strawberries, place in a food processor and blend. Set Side.
