Crispy Fried Onion Blossom

Serve with some spicy sriracha mayo!

Ingredients

1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 cup whole milk
2 eggs

1 large vidalia onion

canola oil, for frying 

Directions

Whisk together dry ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Set Aside.  Whisk wet ingredients in another medium bowl, set aside.

Cut 1/2 inch off the top of the onion. Slice onion into 16 wedges. Dip onion in wet mix, then dry mix. Then repeat. Ensure each petal is well coated, thrn refrigerate for 15 mins

In a deep, heavy bottomed pot, heat oil (enough to cover the onion) to 350 degrees. Carefully lower onion into hot oil and fry for 3 minutes on each side.  Drain on rack. Serve with dipping sauce of choice and enjoy!
