ingredients

  • 4 tablepoons butter, divided
  • 1 large shallot, thinly sliced
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 3 large pieces crusty sourdough bread
  • parmesan cheese, to garnish

Method

  • Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small pan over medium heat, melt one tablespoon butter. Add shallots and cook until caramelized,10-12 minutes, stirring often to ensure the shallots do not burn. Remove from heat and set aside.

  • Step 2

    In a large bowl, combine remaining three tablespoons butter, minced garlic, chopped thyme, chopped parsley, caramelized shallots, salt and pepper to taste. Stir to fully combine.

  • Step 3

    Spread the garlic, shallot and butter mixture onto the bread slices and bake for 10-12 minutes. Garnish with Parmesan cheese and enjoy.
