A Virtual Trip 'Down East' To Maine Through Food!

2020 has looked a little different for everyone. Vacations, graduations, weddings and weekends away have been put on hold and most of us have gotten VERY familiar with our homes. Throughout quarantine I've strived to find the 'silver linings' (not easy to do!), and one thing I have been grateful for is the opportunity to spend more time at home cooking. I've also been pleased to find so many amazing brands and resources that will deliver right to your door.

I usually am lucky enough to have the opportunity to VisitMaine at least twice a year.  From skiing on fresh powder at Sunday River to enjoying Lobster Fest in Rockland to brewery hopping in Portland, I've had my fair share of fun Down East. When my plans to visit this summer had to be put on hold, I was so happy to learn about retailers like Luke’s Lobster, Maine GrainsWyman's Wild BlueberriesCrooked Face Creamery and Atlantic Sea Farms that are either available in stores or can ship right to my front door.  I was able to bring that VisitMaine taste to my home which was the perfect way to tide me over until I am able to head 'Down East' next year!

Brown Butter Lobster Rolls by @mollyjean4

Since I wasn’t able to make it to VisitMaine this summer, I had to get creative with my lobster roll fix, and thanks to Luke’s Lobster I put together some of the BEST lobster rolls I’ve ever tasted.  Luke’s sends a perfectly packed kit complete with 4 split top buns, a packet of their addictive seasoning and one full pound of cooked and prepared lobster meat; fresh from the source. All that’s left to do is toss in a little browned butter, some fresh herbs and you’re good to go.

Summer may be coming to an end, but I’ll definitely be ordering this kit long into the fall to capture that VisitMaine feeling.
