ingredients
- 4 cups softened salted butter
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 zest orange
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 5 tablespoons whole milk
Method
Step 1
Heat oven to 350F.
Step 2
Grease and lightly flour a loaf or bundt pan.
Step 3
In a large bowl or mixer, cream the butter and sugar for 3 minutes.
Step 4
Mix eggs into butter and sugar, one egg at a time.
Step 5
Add in the vanilla and almond extract.
Step 6
Add in the orange zest.
Step 7
Then add flour, 1/2 a cup at a time.
Step 8
Fold in the sour cream until well combined and the batter is fluffy.
Step 9
The batter will be stiff, so spoon batter into pan.
Step 10
Wipe off excess batter from the sides of the pan, so the cake can fully rise.
Step 11
Bake in the oven for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Step 12
Let cake cool in the pan until the pan is warm enough to touch
Step 13
Once cooled, turn pan upside down and remove cake. then place on a cooling rack until completely cooled.
Step 14
While the cake is cooling, combine milk and powdered sugar Ice cake and garnish with the candied oranges or however you like.
