Hummus

ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas (or 1 16oz can chickpeas, drained)
  • 1/4 cup Tahini
  • 1-2 garlic, cloves
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • salt, to taste

Ground Beef Topping

ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon aleppo pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Hummus

Method

  • Step 1

    Mix all ingredients together in a blender or food processor, adding water gradually until desired texture is reached.

Ground Beef Topping

  • Step 1

    Sauté the onion in the olive oil. Add the meat and sauté until the color changes. Add the spices and let it cook until most of the liquid has evaporated.

  • Step 2

    Top with fried pine nuts, paprika or sumac, and parsley as desired.
