Caramelized Pear and Blue Cheese Salad

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 pears, cored and cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/ 2 onion, diced
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups mixed greens
  • Blue cheese, crumbled
  • Candied hazelnuts, for garnish


  • Step 1

    In a pan, melt butter on medium high heat and add the pears. Cook one side for about 3-5 minutes or until starts to turn golden. Turn wedges and brown second side for another 3 minutes.

  • Step 2

    Turn heat to medium low and add in onion. Cook until soft, about 3 minutes.

  • Step 3

    Drizzle in honey and season with salt and pepper. Mix and let caramelize for an additional 3 minutes, mixing constantly.

  • Step 4

    Once ready, remove from heat to let cool slightly.

  • Step 5

    Add greens to a serving plate and top with warm pears, crumbled blue cheese, and candied hazelnuts.
