Gluten Free Desserts

A Note From Lisa Vipond

In my book, there is nothing better than satisfying a sweet tooth or ending a meal with dessert. When my family turned ‘Gluten-Free’, desserts were a bit of a puzzle. One thing I’ve found is that eliminating gluten from your diet does not mean sacrificing flavor! Go ahead and enjoy creamy custards, puddings, baked fruits, sorbets as well as cookies, crisps and cakes! If your looking for healthy, delicious and creative gluten-free ways to satisfy a sweet tooth, end a meal or highlight a celebration, this feed is for you!

Apple Tarts With Honey And Ice Cream

This weekend my wonderful mother is coming down to celebrate her birthday weekend with me (it is a month early, but this is how we operate with our busy schedules!), so I want to make her something special. This year I am going to make her a plant based #dessert, one of which I know she will surely appreciate more than your typical sugar laden cake. I made this a little while back and loved the ease of the recipe (you can use any fruit) and simply put - it tasted damn good.

Coming from France I grew up eating apple tarts. Some of my most beautiful memories of my mama are watching her in the kitchen making apple tarts. So, finding this sweet healthier twist on an old staple was sentimental foodie heaven for me. Mmmmm. I can smell childhood smells of apples baking. So good for the soul.

Rhubarb And Raspberry Almond Bars

You guys, I have been going NUTS looking for rhubarb at every farmers market + regular market I've been too lately, and I can't find it ANYWHERE. It's making me seriously miss the massive piles of it at the farmers market in Seattle. Where's a girl supposed to get some rhubarb in Southern California?!? I've been dyyying to whip up another batch of these irresistible Raspberry Rhubarb Bars that I made last year - they have an amazing frangipane topping that the fruit just melts into. It's so heavenly (and Paleo!). If you've got rhubarb in your parts, you've got to make this one to virtually share with me and I might make a batch with strawberries and raspberries until I can find some rhubarb of my own. ALSO, if you know somewhere in San Diego that has rhubarb, plz let me know.

Yassss!!!! So, excited to find this. I was just looking at the rhubarb at the grocery store wondering what new creation I could make with it. It's so so good for you and beautiful to boot. Mixed with berries and almonds I almost guilty about good this will be. Notice I said, "almost". Lol. First round won't even make it out of a the kitchen. I can assure you of that.
