For the Blondies
ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Flaky sea salt, to taste
- 6 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- Assorted chocolate candies (such as Snickers, KitKat, Reese's, M&Ms), roughly chopped
For the Blondies
Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350˚F and butter a 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Line the pan with parchment paper; leaving an overhang on each side to use as a handle to remove the cooked blondies.
Step 2
Add dark brown sugar to melted butter and whisk until smooth. Add eggs one at a time and whisk, then add vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.
Step 3
Add flour, baking powder and salt and fold together until no streaks of flour remain. Spread batter into an even layer in the prepared baking dish. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown but the center is still quite soft. Top with chocolate chunks and allow to melt on the warm dough for about 10 minutes before spreading into an even layer.
Step 4
Arrange chopped chocolate candies overtop and sprinkle with flakey sea salt. Let cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before removing from the pan and slicing.
